The Damang Gold Mine is a world-class operation, consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL metallurgical plant. The mine is situated in the Western Region of Ghana and is ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 certificated. It has a current Life of Mine expectancy to the year 2019 and beyond.

Job Description

Purpose of the job:-
The Technical Services Section of the Engineering Department is seeking to employ a competent person to fill the position of a Dispatch Technician. The success applicant will serve as a liaison between Dispatch and Lafon Fuelling Systems on the Mining Machinery. He/she will ensure that effective engineering repair standards and procedures are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Develop dispatching strategies that satisfy the production goals of the operation
  • Determine integrity of road network to allow for fuel auditing checks and other performance calculations such as TKPH and EFH
  • Identify faulty systems through the use of system diagnostic tools
  • Troubleshoot field Computer Systems when necessary to identify the cause of faults
  • Replace and return faulty equipment to Modular for repair
  • Repair damaged cabling and other components such as masts, antenans, etc
  • Maintain spares inventory
  • Liaise with Dispatchers/Operators to identify hardware faults and/or anomalies
  • Maintain spares inventory
  • Maintenance of the Lafon refuelling system
  • Ensure compliance with the highest standards in terms of safety (OHSAS 18001) and Environmental Management (ISO 14001)

Required Skills or Experience

Key Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Instrumentation
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with people from diverse cultures and levels
  • Good knowledge of flowmeter and resistance temperature detectors (RTDs)
  • Ability to work for long hours to obtain the required results
  • Must be a team player, a good listener and reliable
  • Ability to meet diverse engineering challenges
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment
  • A valid Ghanaian driver's licence and ability to drive light duty vehicle
