A multinational mining company seeks the services of a self-motivated Mechanical Supervisor for their West African operation. This is a challenging and rewarding career opportunity.
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Mechanical General Foreman, the Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for preventing equipment breakdowns and increasing availability and reliability of plant equipment.
Responsibilities:
The Successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning, scheduling and supervising mechanical works, including:
- Breakdowns
- Planned tasks
- Shutdown tasks and determining shutdown critical path activities.
- Supervising equipment rebuilds and repairs such as
- Ball and SAG mills.
- Slurry and water pumps including reticulation systems.
- Agitators, gearboxes and hydraulic drives.
- Screens and chutes and
- Material handling equipment.
- Supervising mechanical technicians as well as contractors.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications and Skills:
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:
- A BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in the process plant/Fixed Plant.
- Must have good knowledge of defect elimination methodologies and their interpretation.
- Must have thorough knowledge of computer maintenance management system (CMMS) and MS Office Suite.
- Must have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, prioritize and communicate effectively
- Must be a team player, problem solver coupled with strong leadership skills.
- Must have experience in condition-based maintenance (CBM) techniques, such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography and oil analysis are highly desirable.
- Must have strong skills in general fabrication and welding. Ability to work on crushers and in mills is desirable.
