Job Description

A multinational mining company seeks the services of a self-motivated Mechanical Supervisor for their West African operation.  This is a challenging and rewarding career opportunity. 

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Mechanical General Foreman, the Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for preventing equipment breakdowns and increasing availability and reliability of plant equipment.

Responsibilities:
The Successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning, scheduling and supervising mechanical works, including:
  • Breakdowns
  • Planned tasks
  • Shutdown tasks and determining shutdown critical path activities.
  • Supervising equipment rebuilds and repairs such as
  • Ball and SAG mills.
  • Slurry and water pumps including reticulation systems.
  • Agitators, gearboxes and hydraulic drives.
  • Screens and chutes and
  • Material handling equipment.
  • Supervising mechanical technicians as well as contractors.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications and Skills:
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:

  • A BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in the process plant/Fixed Plant.
  • Must have good knowledge of defect elimination methodologies and their interpretation.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of computer maintenance management system (CMMS) and MS Office Suite.
  • Must have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, prioritize and communicate effectively
  • Must be a team player, problem solver coupled with strong leadership skills.
  • Must have experience in condition-based maintenance (CBM) techniques, such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography and oil analysis are highly desirable.
  • Must have strong skills in general fabrication and welding. Ability to work on crushers and in mills is desirable.
