Electricity Company of Ghana Seeks Electrical Trainee

Electricity Company of Ghana has electrical/electronic jobs in Ghana to recruit Electrical Trainee. We are a limited liability Company wholly owned by the Government of Ghana and operating under the Ministry of Energy (ME).

 

The Company was incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 in February 1997. It began as the Electricity Department on 1st April 1947 and later became the Electricity Division in 1962.

 

It was subsequently converted into the Electricity Corporation of Ghana by NLC Decree 125 in 1967.

 

Until July 1987, the responsibility for distributing and supplying power in the country rested on ECG. The Government created the Northern Electricity Department (NED) as a subsidiary of Volta River Authority (VRA) in 1987 which took over from ECG the responsibility for the running and development of electric power systems in Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.

 

The Company is responsible for the distribution of electricity in the southern part of Ghana namely, Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Volta and Western Regions.

Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates capable of undertaking an intensive two-year formal training programme in Overhead Lines, Cable Jointing, Substation Maintenance and General Electrical Technology at the ECG Training Centre, Tema.

Successful applicants will be appointed as Senior Artisans for posting to ECG operational areas after their training.

Required Skills or Experience

Applicants must:

  1. Not be more than Thirty (30) years old by the end of February, 2013 ( A copy of applicant's birth certificate must be attached to the application)
  2. Possess, as the highest certificate acquired, either the Electrical Installation Work-Advanced craft (Course "C") certificate, or the Electrical Engineering Technician part II Certificate
  3. In addition to the above, show evidence of having successfully completed either the Electrical Installation Work Intermediate Craft (Course "B") or the Electrical Engineering Technician Part I course
  4. Possess the Basic Educational Certificate Examination (BECE) certificate
  5. Pass an ECG in-house Entrance Examination and a selection Interview
