The Mining Engineer will report to the Senior Mining Engineer, assist in the co-ordination of mining activities of the Mining Department at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri. The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:- Gather production information in the form of database and generate appropriate periodic summary from database; Prepare an up-to-date mining production data in a weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis with respect to Forecast, Targets, and or Budgets; Write department minutes at related meeting e.g. Production, and ensure such minutes and other information are filed correctly as well as ensure a proper filing system for easy identification and access of the superiors; Prepare strategic mining plans to achieve PMGL's goals with regards to Safety, Ore and waste quantities, and eventual gold production; Ensure that data relating to the Contractor are collated, processed and stored appropriately within the department's systems; Use the mining software package (SURPAC, WHITTLE) to generate various plans of the mine; and Take appropriate measurement on the field or other location as may be required to collect information for subsequent decisions. E.g. time and motion studies, mining face updates and pits inspections etc The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates' qualifications and experience. The Asquith Commission, which was set up in 1943 to investigate Higher Education, recommended among other things, the setting up of University Colleges in association with the University of London. This was followed up by a number of separate Commissions in different regions. The West Africa Commission was under the Chairmanship of the Rt. Hon. Walter Elliot. The Elliot Commission published a majority report which recommended the establishment of two University Colleges in the Gold Coast (Ghana) and Nigeria, and a minority report which held that only one University College for the whole of British West Africa was feasible. The British Government at first accepted the minority report of the Elliot Commission and decided that a University College for the whole of British West Africa should be established at Ibadan in Nigeria. But the people of the Gold Coast could not accept this recommendation. Led by the scholar and politician, the late Dr. J.B. Danquah, they urged the Gold Coast Government to inform the British Government that the Gold Coast could support a University College.
